People who create things for a living often have something to represent; whether it’s a belief system, a new way of thinking, or something else they believe can change the world.
I listen to a lot of reggae music, for example, much of which is made by Rastafarians with a message to share. Sometimes the message is about Rastafarian philosophy, and sometimes it’s about freedom or rebellion against corruption. These musicians have something to say and a great outlet to get their message out.
This is one of many examples of creative minds on a mission to share their truth.
For many, a life of creative work and a message to share go together. Without a message, their work is missing something. These creative minds inspire me the most, because my work also relies on having something meaningful to share with you. Continue reading →
Whatever is in your heart, do it. Whatever obstacle holds you back, overcome it. Whoever stands in your way, defy them. Your mission on this evolving planet is too important at this point to let anything prevent it.
Life will seem to throw endless impossible obstacles in your way. But you must keep moving.
Whatever remnants of your ego you need to sacrifice to become whole, let them go and watch as they fly freely. If they return, it’s because they have more to teach you. Be open to their lessons, not dismayed at their return.
As strange as it might sound, your ego can teach you as much as your intuition. Whether you learn from either of them depends on if you’re open to their lessons. Continue reading →
By bringing your attention to your subconscious, it helps you become aware of things deep within that either help or hurt you. If you meditate for long enough, it’ll reveal the answers to your deepest questions.
Without meditation, I don’t think I could receive the guidance I’ve needed to get through countless problems in life.
Meditation was there for me each time I realized I can’t find what I need in the material world. By becoming silent, still, and willing to listen to the nothingness, I discovered a higher consciousness and the potential to plunge deeper.
Within the meditation-induced nothingness, you discover the intuitive stream of thought that leads to positive places through positive choices. If you can tune in and listen to this intuitive thought stream, it’ll help you stay on the right path.

To love is to liberate, and with true love comes peace, compassion, and a calm mind. These qualities come to the surface naturally with an open heart, but you might feel like you need to strive for them if the heart’s closed.
Ironically, in ceasing the quest for knowledge or evolution, we discover wisdom and make an effortless transformation in mind and heart.
We make connections we never noticed before, and we grow and evolve without realizing or striving for it. We stop getting stressed when things go wrong, because the mind and its whirlwind of emotions no longer influence us. Continue reading →
There is a Source of energy, inspiration, and abundance we can all tap into, but we have to be aware of it first. It’s here waiting patiently for us to realize it exists, but until we can be open to it, it’ll sit at the edge of our perception and guide our lives without us knowing.
It’s difficult to become aware of something you can’t initially see, feel or sense, but the more you’re open to this Source, the more it reveals itself.
When it comes to spiritual terminology, I tend to use different labels to define the same things. For example: to me, there’s no difference between the higher self, higher consciousness, and the Source. There are differences for other people, but to me, they’re all constructs that help us conceptualize higher states of consciousness and the idea of a creator.
Despite that they all originate in the human mind, we can use them to connect with a higher power through meditation and other spiritual activities. Continue reading →
This is an introductory article for my new blog, Openhearted Rebel. Hope to see you there!
Reminder: This blog, wesannac.com, will soon be shut down since I’m moving over to the new one.
A New Kind of Revolution
‘Openhearted Rebel’ is not just a name for a blog. It’s a way of life created out of awareness of the importance of compassion and openheartedness, and on this blog, I intend to share writings from the heart that cover various issues that are relevant to the spiritual and activist communities.
A new kind of revolution is sweeping the world, and it’s driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility for leaving the planet in a better condition for future generations. It’s a revolution of love; a social/spiritual revolution we can all contribute to, and the best way to contribute is to do what you love.
It’s rooted in the understanding that changing the world starts with changing yourself and being there for those who need you, and in my opinion, holding the people in power accountable for their lies and deceptions is also an important part of it.
This kind of movement doesn’t require bloodshed. In fact, it does the opposite by bringing awareness to the atrocities committed in the name of war and the importance of moving in a different direction.
The personal, heart-centered change driving this revolution will free us from hate, vengeance and the various other qualities that reinforce the world’s negative condition. Together, we’ll learn to rebel while embracing love, compassion and the understanding that we’re all human and spiritual beings.
A Basic, Essential Idea
Most people assume that a world of openhearted and compassionate people is impossible, but this basic idea is essential to a properly functioning society. No matter where you come from or what you believe, you can be open to love (or at least respect) for the people who share this planet with you.
This is all that’s required to plant the seed for truly revolutionary and innovative changes, and it results from a commitment to personal change. Even if most of the world has yet to be a part of it, your personal changes will prove powerful and useful for others who are just starting to wake up.
We don’t need Big Brother watching our every move for ‘national security’ purposes and pouncing on us when they think we’ve done something wrong.
We don’t need militarized police forces causing mayhem in the streets, and we definitely don’t need political pundits in expensive suits screaming at us to conform to a corrupt system that serves them and their rich friends.
We need a new way of life free from the greed and corruption of the one percent, who’ll tell us any lie imaginable just to push their agenda forward. We also need a world free from the greed and corruption of the common man, whose negativity enables the world’s suffering. Continue reading →
